Company Info

Solar and wind need energy storage to enable renewable energy 24/7 and be 100% reliant on solar & wind. Thus, customers need flexible energy storage solutions that are future-proof to grow with the grid’s needs - which doesn’t exist today. Current energy storage solutions aren’t affordable, scalable, safe nor are they flexible or future-proof. EarthEn develops flexible and future-proof long duration energy storage to store 4-100+ hours of energy using CO2 in a closed loop at a low cost, highly scalable & safe manner with over a 30 year lifetime value. We are enabling Earth’s electrification.

Team Members

We are hungry and passionate cofounders who will not stop until we stop climate change. we are backed by technical and commercial advisors with a cumulative experience of 150 years in this space.

Manas Pathak, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO, has expertise spanning chemical engineering, business development, and energy technology commercialization. Dr. Pathak has authored several patents and published ~30 research and business articles with more than 500 citations. With six years of experience at Intel, where he held roles in engineering and business leadership, including serving as the Global Lead for AI in Energy, Dr. Pathak is adept at bridging technology innovation with market-driven strategies.

Palash Panja, Ph.D., CTO brings extensive research and practical experience in energy storage and process engineering. With over 70 peer-reviewed publications and 1500+ citations, Dr. Panja has established himself as an authority in chemical engineering, energy storage, and CO2 capture and utilization.

Go-To-Market Strategy

We are building a 3MW, 10MW, 20 MW, and 100 MW utility scale system. They will all be sized for 4-100 hours of energy storage & can be sized for what the customer needs. They will be future-proof due to our unique ability in being able to scale energy & power independently. Thus, when our customers choose us as their energy storage supplier - they never have to look beyond to another supplier as we can grow with the grid at an incremental low cost. Our customers are EV fleet charging sites, solar / wind farms, utility providers, commercial & industrial customers, microgrids & CO2 pipelines. Our different product sizes are good for different customers. Our technology can be deployed alongside CO2 pipelines and be retrofitted to redirect the flow of CO2 into our storage assets to generate clean electricity at a low cost unlocking a new revenue stream for CO2 pipeline owners.  I am seeking partnerships with solar and wind energy developers who can develop our LDES project as Independent power producers and then sell electricity in form of PPA to the end users.

Revenue Generation

Business Model:

  1. Sale of MW-Pods: that store energy for what the customer needs (market is asking for anywhere between 4-100 hours)
  2. Sale of MWh-Pods: MWh pods will be sold as the customer’s MWh needs grow into the future.
  3. PPA Agreements: Sale of renewable electricity in the retail markets.
  4. Licensing agreements with manufacturing and engineering firms for domestic and international market penetration
Benefits From Showcase

EarthEn’s ask is for the proposed project, which will focus on advancing the commercialization of its innovative CO2-based energy storage system through a Front-End Loading 2 (FEL-2) study (part of pre-FEED) and research & development (R&D) of a critical component of its system: Thermal Energy Storage (TES) unit.

Technology Assesment

We have finished our TRL 4 prototype at the Energy & Geology Institute. We are currently building 100 KW prototype, a $3M-effort fully funded by DOE at Oakridge National Lab. In 2026, we will deploy two field scale pilots of 3 MW each, that will allow us to get to TRL 7 and prepare us for first revenue.

Money Received

DOE, NSF, LaunchTN grants - $3M Angel and venture: $250K
